At CS Truck and Trailer, we’re proud to support the Cure Childhood Cancer Golf Classic, a tradition that’s making a difference in the lives of children and families facing cancer. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the tournament, hosted at the picturesque Cherokee Run Golf Course in Conyers, Georgia. It’s more than a golf event—it’s a movement to fund vital research and provide essential support where it’s needed most.
A Passionate Journey
This event holds a deeply personal meaning for Joe Coleman, our founder. When his daughter Shannon was diagnosed with leukemia at just two years old, the survival rate was only 50%. After three years of treatment and countless hurdles, Shannon made a full recovery. Today, she’s a mother of two. That journey ignited Joe’s dedication to Cure Childhood Cancer, where he’s served as the longest-standing board member since 1975.
Making Strides in Childhood Cancer Research
Over the last 35 years, the Cure Childhood Cancer Golf Classic has raised more than $2.5 million—all of it helping fund life-saving research. Thanks to efforts like these, the leukemia survival rate has climbed to 90%. While the progress is undeniable, Joe often reminds us that losing even one child to cancer is one too many. This mission continues to drive us forward.
Community and Corporate Support
The tournament thrives because of the incredible support it receives from individuals and corporate sponsors across the transportation industry. Every dollar raised goes directly to Cure Childhood Cancer, thanks to generous donations of food, prizes, and funds. Over the years, this event has become more than just a fundraiser—it’s a tradition that keeps people coming back year after year.
And it’s not just about raising money. It’s about the community it fosters. Participants like the Watkins twins, who have been involved since the very first tournament, bring a sense of connection and shared purpose. Their dedication, along with the support of so many others, adds to the camaraderie that makes this event so special.
A Humbling Experience
For Joe Coleman, the real reward isn’t about the funds raised—it’s about the smiles, the stories, and the people. Witnessing the generosity of everyone involved, all united by a single goal, is humbling. As we celebrate this 35-year milestone, we want to say thank you. Whether you’ve played, donated, or cheered from the sidelines, your support matters. Together, we’re honoring the lives we’ve lost, supporting the families who need us, and paving the way for brighter futures—one swing at a time.
